Ashmita is passionate about interpreting and revealing the unique beauty found in the natural world. Through her art, she transforms everyday inspirations into vibrant visual expressions that reflects her power of observation and deep emotion.
Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Ashmita spent her formative years immersed in a rich cultural landscape. After earning a degree in Art from the prestigious Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts, she specialized in advertising and built a successful career as a visual artist, working with leading advertising agencies in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Following a move to the United States, Ashmita paused her professional career to focus on family. In 2006, she returned to the easel with renewed energy and a fresh perspective. Working primarily in acrylics, she developed a powerful body of abstract paintings - vibrant, structured, and highly emotional expressions inspired by the global environments.
The Present: A Continuous Evolution
Today, Ashmita's artistic journey has reached a remarkable and expansive new horizon. Splitting her time between the West and her native Mumbai, she has stepped beyond the traditional canvas to pioneer a stunning fusion of fine art and textile heritage.
