Ashmita creates vibrant abstract artworks that bring beauty, emotion, and energy into any space.
Inspired by nature, culture, and her experiences across India, the United States, and the United Kingdom, her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and form personal connections with each piece.
Her paintings are known for luminous color, rich texture, and expressive compositions. Each work becomes a visual focal point that sparks conversation, reveals new layers over time, and brings both boldness and serenity into a space.
Ashmita’s newest body of work, Rangrez, marks a fresh chapter in her artistic journey. In this series, she uses traditional Indian embroidery in modern ways, working with fine silk threads, contemporary beads, and layered stitch techniques to create rich, tactile surfaces. Each piece begins as an abstract painting and is then reimagined through thread, texture, and hand‑crafted detail. The result is artwork that feels both modern and rooted in heritage, bringing depth, movement, and cultural storytelling into interior spaces.
A graduate of Mumbai’s prestigious Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts, Ashmita blends artistic discipline with intuitive expression. Her early career in visual advertising sharpened her mastery of color, composition, and scale, skills that now shape the structure and harmony of her paintings.
Today, she divides her time between Seattle, London, and Mumbai, drawing from contemporary abstraction while staying deeply connected to India’s artistic and textile heritage. This fusion creates a distinctive body of work that celebrates color, craftsmanship, and the transformative power of art in everyday life.
“The West shaped my visual language, and India shaped my soul.”
Through every piece, whether part of her ongoing collections or the new Rangrez series, Ashmita offers collectors more than art for a wall. She creates lasting experiences that bring inspiration, warmth, and meaning to the spaces people call home.
